Mendoza
The city of the Mendoza is the capital city of the province and the most important one in the Western part of Argentina. Located at the foot of the Andes Mountain Range, it constitutes a cultivated oasis thanks to the Mendoza and Tunuyan Rivers. Mendoza is one of the main tourist destinations due to the varied and interesting activities that can be practiced there.
The weather of the region is moderate, template, even though the mountains give certain degree of dryness to the area. The summer average temperature is between 18 C and 33 C, with hot days and cold nights. In winter the minimum temperature is 3 C, while the maximum temperature observed in this season is 16 C .
You can access Mendoza by plane through the International Airport “Francisco Gabrielli- El Plumerillo” or by land through the national routes 7 and 40.
The urban area offers a wonderful sight of tree-lined streets, squares, and parks. A ditches network of 500 kilometers has allowed the implementation of an irrigation system around the city, which has put Mendoza in the vanguard of arid city planning .
Mendoza is a land of historic tradition. It still preserves numerous memories from San Martin’s epic campaigns in well known places such as , “ Cerro de la Gloria”, “El Plumerillo”, San Martin Park, and in all the museums, which keep documents that are the evidence of the journey and stay of this national hero in the region.
Mendoza is the starting point to practice adventure tourism and mountain sports, such as mountain climbing, skiing and rafting. Besides, Mendoza offers many circuits to carry out these activities.
You can also enjoy a walk around some of its squares, the civic center and the foundation area, in which the visitor can appreciate and learn about the city’s history, culture and its inhabitants’ idiosyncrasies.
In the bordering areas you can visit interesting places such as San Francisco’s church ruins, El Challao, Villavicencio thermal baths, Cacheuta, Potrerillos and Vallecitos.
